Abstract
An opportunity to study the Soil-Structure-Interaction (SSI) mechanisms of a large embedded structure is permitted by availability of seismic data from an instrumented test site, which includes a multitude of acceleration and pressure time histories. A study is reported herein to examine this data set and develop a representative computational model. The employed System identification techniques which were used to identify the site properties are outlined. The extracted site properties were shown to provide a reasonable match to the recorded data. Using these properties, a parametric computational study was conducted to illustrate and highlight some salient mechanisms associated with the seismic response of large embedded structural systems.
