Denine Hagen leads external relations efforts for the Jacobs School including all communications, development and alumni outreach, and industry relations activities. In addition, she serves as consultant to the engineering academic leadership in building relationships with corporate, community, and alumni leaders.
Ms. Hagen has served for 13 years as Director of Communications for the Jacobs School. During her tenure, the Jacobs School's national ranking has risen from 43 in 1995 to #11 today. Most recently, the Jacobs School was ranked number nine in the world by the Institute of Higher Education, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Ms. Hagen joined UCSD in 1991, and served as a senior public information officer for the UCSD School of Medicine before moving to the Jacobs School in 1995. Prior to joining UCSD, Ms. Hagen was a senior science writer for Pennsylvania State University's Hershey Medical Center. Ms. Hagen earned a B.A. in Journalism and Communications from Point Park University, Pittsburgh.
