Through the Jacobs School and UC San Diego Alumni, there are countless ways to get involved on campus, in your community and across the globe. Whether your passion drives you to be a mentor to students, volunteer for a service cause, host a regional alumni event or serve on a career/alumni panel there are always rewards for those brave enough to step out from the crowd.
Promote and attend alumni networking or fund raising events.
Share your experience with students by participating on a career panel (located on campus). Panels are scheduled on a quarterly basis through our student orgs and the six-specific engineering departments within the Jacobs School.
Annual Jacobs School exclusive event showcasing the great work of our M.S. and PhD. Level students in all six of our engineering departments. Alumni are recruited to participate as volunteer judges and evaluate the student's work as they compete for best poster prizes. Volunteer judges must either hold a PhD or 10 years + industry experience and Bachelor's degree to participate. Expo takes place in April - with judges signing up to participate in early January.
Classroom and student groups: Visit a class or student group to share information about your student and alumni experience, career path and more.
Capstone / Design Mentoring
Undergraduate students across our departments work to develop innovative project proposals, conduct design analysis, and design/build prototypes. Capstone/Design Mentors can sponsor a team and assist with project management.
The UC San Diego Alumni Association invites you to host a Triton Table at your home or a venue of your choice. As a host, you agree to provide dinner for up to 10 undergraduate students and create an informal and welcoming environment where you can share your Triton experience and life after UCSD. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and your advice. This is a great way to give back and impart valuable wisdom to the next generation of UCSD alumni.
Register ONLINE if you would like to volunteer for any of the opportunities listed above. Many opportunities are drive by student demand, so you will be contacted as activities become available.
