1. New Generation Information Display - TIP Team - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
Project is the next generation concept for ultra-high resolution distributed display systems that can scale into the billions of pixels, providing unprecedented high-capacity visualization capabilities. We are seeking self-starters who can quickly grasp fundamental elements of technical problems and provide creative solutions while working in interdisciplinary teams.

The team will consist of 3 CS/CE Senior/Graduate level students.

Required Skills:

1. R&D Systems Engineering in Germany - TIP Team - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
QUALCOMM Corp R&D has a mission to design, advance, concept prove, standardize, and prototype advanced communication technologies. Corporate R&D conceived and brought to market key innovations.

This 12-week summer internship offers active participation and contribution to Corporate R&D's systems engineering PHY/MAC design activities and/or communication networks and upper layer protocols. This includes theoretical analysis, computer simulations, fixed-point implementation, as well as, possible contributions to submission of technical papers to relevant standardization bodies/conferences. The internship position enables the candidate to actively participate in internal design and review sessions.

This internship team will consist of 2 graduate level engineering students (1 PHY/MAC design & 1 Upper Layers).

Required Skills:

Both interns: - Graduate student MS or PhD in EE, CE, or CS. - Good simulation skills required: Proficient using Matlab and C/C++. - High level of written and spoken English. - German not required but a plus. - Results-oriented, self-motivated, self-driven and capable to work with little supervision. -To be eligible for our Intern program, student must be mid study and not already graduated. - No previous industry experience required.

PHY/MAC Design Intern (Requisition # E1897261): - Communication theory and digital signal processing fundamentals. - Specialization on a Communications Theory area is a plus, e.g., coding, synchronization, etc. - Ending stages of M.S. degree or in Ph.D. program in electrical engineering or related areas.

Upper Layers Intern (Requisition # E1897259): - Knowledge of networking concepts. - Communication protocols, layered protocol design, communications system design and control algorithms design. - Experience with Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP/HTTP), wireless LAN and 3G/4G mobile systems, is a plus. - Ending stages of M.Sc. degree or in Ph.D. program in electrical engineering, computer science or related areas.

2. R&D Mobile Software in Seoul, Korea - TIP Team - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
As a Qualcomm software engineering intern, you will work at the Korea R&D Center with the goal of developing cutting edge multimedia applications. The prospective candidate will work on multimedia software for mobile phone platforms.

The team will consist of 3 BS or MS or Ph.D. students in EE/CE/CS.

Required Skills:

-GUI programming -Android, iPhone, WinMo platform -Embedded programming skills -Strong programming skills -Strong communications and presentations skills

Preferred Skills:

-Audio / image / video / graphics applications -C++, DSP, assembly -Mobile device driver knowledge

3. Corporate R&D in Beijing, China - TIP Team - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
Optimize computer vision software modules using OpenCL for GPGPU platform. Develop reliable code using process, including setting up testing using GoogleTest framework, documentation using DeOxygen, code review, version control.

Required Skills:

-CS undergraduate or graduate student. -Experienced in C or C++. -Independent while effective in team working. -Willing to learning software development processes. -An interest in developing software for computer vision. -An interest in parallel programming and software optimization. -Graduation date no earlier than September 2012.

Preferred Skills:

-OpenCL experience a plus. -Prior work/coursework in the area of computer vision, signal processing, and/or machine learning is a plus.

ResMed is a developer, manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment for treating, diagnosing, and managing sleep-disordered breathing and other respiratory disorders. Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) includes obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and other respiratory disorders that occur during sleep. ResMed has developed a number of products for SDB and other respiratory disorders including airflow generators, diagnostic products, mask systems, headgear and other accessories. Its R&D and manufacturing operations are located in Australia, Singapore, Ireland, France, Germany and the United States.
 
1. Sleep PPG Project in Sydney, Australia - TIP Team - This Project is in the process of reviewing current applicants, please check back for changes to application status.
The project will include the refinement and implementation of algorithms for the processing of the PPG (photoplethysmograph) in MatLab and the conversion of this code into a C++ library suitable for use in Windows and Smartphone applications. Other aspects of the project may entail algorithm development concerning actigraphy signals.

The team will consist of 2 students (BioE/BINF/CS/EE/CE).

Required Skills:

-Programming skills in C++ -Programming skills in Matlab -Familiarity with algorithm development and implementation -Familiarity with signal processing
