1. Korea R&D Mobile Software Team - TIP - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
QUALCOMM Corp R&D has a mission to design, advance, concept prove, standardize, and prototype advanced communication technologies. The goals of this project are to develop intelligent multimedia applications for mobile user interactions. Those interactions can be triggered by the user in form of pattern classification tasks and also in form of clustering, self-learning, and inference principles so that the mobile device seamlessly interacts with real world environment. This kind of technology development involves knowledge in embedded systems, machine learning, signal processing and a number of multimedia technologies including audio, video, graphics and display. The team of interns will be given a specific development task and work closely with Qualcomm researcher engineers. The team will also demonstrate the applications on the Qualcomm multimedia platform. Prospective candidate works: - Prototyping computer vision project on mobile device - Prototyping environment sound recognition project on mobile device - Server side engine development - Windows GUI programming

The team will consist of: - 3 EE/CE/CS students

Required Skills:

Basic technical requirements are: - Application development experience on Android/iOS/Windows/Linux - Embedded programming skills - Strong knowledge of Java/C++/Objective-C Education Requirements: - BS or MS or Ph.D. student/candidate in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. - Must be available for 3 months.

Preferred Skills:

Specific knowledge in the following area is a plus: - Audio / image / video / graphics applications - DSP, assembly - Mobile device driver knowledge Additional Skills: - Strong programming skills - Strong communications and presentations skills

2. China R&D Mobile Software Team - TIP - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
Next-generation wireless communications is emerging as the most important technology of this millennium. To ensure that the entire wireless industry is inspired and continues to evolve, innovate and experience success, QUALCOMM develops its technologies and solutions for the purpose of enabling key participants in the wireless value chain.

 

This TIP project will be focused on optimizing computer vision algorithms using OpenCL for GPGPU, and also other multimedia enhancement study on mobile platforms. Interns will learn and follow SW process to develop production quality code, including design and analysis, implementation, unit test using GoogleTest framework, documentation using Doxygen, and code review with web-based team collaboration code review tool.

Required Skills:

-CS undergraduate or graduate student.

-Experienced in C or C++.

-Independent while effective in team working.

-An interest in developing software for computer vision.

-An interest in parallel programming and software optimization.

-Graduation date no earlier than September 2013.

 

Additional Skills

Education Requirements            

BS or MS or Ph.D. student/candidate in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.

Must be available for 3 months.

Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) includes obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and other respiratory disorders that occur during sleep. ResMed has developed a number of products for SDB and other respiratory disorders including airflow generators, diagnostic products, mask systems, headgear and other accessories. Its R&D and manufacturing operations are located in Australia, Singapore, Ireland, France, Germany and the United States.
 
1. Telemedicine Application for the Android - TIP - ALL STUDENT OPENINGS HAVE BEEN FILLED
ResMed is offering an opportunity for 2 senior students or graduates to join us in Sydney, Australia for 8-10 weeks for an internship, where you will be involved in identifying, evaluating and developing concepts that lead to significant innovation in ResMed. You will work with a dynamic group of people whooperatein an open and cross-functional environment to develop ideas and concepts into products that fulfil our customer needs. 

The project will be to develop a telemedicine application on the Android operating system.  Project components include Bluetooth interfacing to medical devices, user interaction, WWAN connectivity and web-based remote data monitoring. 

Join us to develop new innovative products for our market.

Placements will be dependent on appropriate visa approvals to ensure eligibility to work in Australia. This will involve an application for an Occupational Traineeship to the Department of Immigration which will also include a medical assessment.

Activities will include (but not be limited to):

General education in sleep / sleep-disordered breathing through Learning Centre courses and staff interaction. Exposure to the design of software and hardware interfaces for the monitoring of patients on PAP therapy. Assist in researching the use of web-based technologies for the management of sleep diseases. Assist in researching the use of smart phone technologies for the diagnosis of sleep therapies.

Required Skills:

Degree should be in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline. All applicants should have enthusiasm for solving interesting problems and able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills. Good written and verbal English communication skills. Knowledge of object-oriented programming, C++ and Java. Knowledge of the development of smart-phone applications. Android development preferred.
