Grand Challenge 11: Advance Health Informatics

Authorized medical data about people can be stored securely within a network designed to help deliver quick and efficient care, and improved quality of care will involve gathering medical data with wearable devices in the form of tiny electronic sensors embedded in clothing and within the body.

Improving Health Information Systems

One major health informatics goal is the development of trusted regional, national and global information networks that provide clinicians with the necessary patient health information. UC San Diego's Center for Networked Systems (CNS) is pursuing some of the fundamental network research necessary to improve the security of health, medical and all other types of data and to manage the scale and complexity of the millions of compute and communication elements powering the global network.
