Jacobs School Ranked Among World's Top Engineering Schools

Recent rankings have placed the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering among the world's top universities. In a ranking of the top 500 High Impact Universities around the globe based on a research performance index, the Jacobs School ranked 9th in the engineering, computing and technology category. The Jacobs School's ranking puts it between the University of Southern California (#8) and Harvard University (#10). The Jacobs School was ranked 5th in terms of its research impact among public institutions.

The Jacobs School was also recently ranked #10 in the world (7th among public institutions) in the 2010 Academic Rankings of World Universities in Engineering/ Technology and Computer Sciences (ARWU).

Results of the recently released National Research Council (NRC) Data-Based Assessment of Research-Doctorate Programs indicated that our Bioengineering department is #1 in the country. A highly regarded "gold standard" rating of doctoral programs and faculty scholarship, the NRC study provides a comprehensive assessment of the quality of more than 5,000 doctoral programs in 62 fields at 212 U.S. research institutions.

The Jacobs School comes in at sixth place nationwide in the NRC data in terms of publications and percentage of faculty with grants, and all academic departments had programs in the top 15 in research.
