MESA Receives State Honor

The Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) program serves over 30,800 educationally disadvantaged students at more than 90 sites in California. The programís goal is to help students at pre-college, community college, and university levels excel in math and science, and graduate from universities in math-based majors. Governor Gray Davis recently recognized MESA with the prestigious Innovations in American Government Award. UCSD is home to two MESA programs which are operated out of the Jacobs School of Engineering: The MESA School Program assists pre-college students, and the MESA Engineering Program supports those majoring in engineering and computer science. The latter is one of 23 located at California colleges and universities.
