1970 Jonathan Collins B.A., APIS Collins recently married wife Melissa and their son Jasper was born on November 1, 2005.
1987 Paul Winkler B.S., COMPUTER ENGINEERING Winkler works with the information technologies directorate within The MITRE Corp.'s Center for Air Force C2 Systems, where he is a lead software systems engineer in embedded systems.
1988 Seth Goldblum B.S., CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Goldblum was recently named head of business development at Senomyx, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of flavor enhancers and taste modulators for the food and pharmaceutical industry. He is responsible for all licensing and collaboration activities at the company.
1988 Darrell Long M.S./PH.D., COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING Long became a Fellow of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers in January 2006. He is associate dean for research and graduate studies at UC Santa Cruz Baskin School of Engineering.
1989 Doug Grose B.S. STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING Grose recently joined Blue Origin (a small, commercial space company), after 15 great years at Boeing working as an aircraft structural engineer. His wife Laurel is a homemaker who keeps things sane for Grose and their boys Ben (16) and Sam (14). Grose's main hobby is windsurfing, which he does down at “The Gorge” ( Columbia River , Oregon ). The family lives in Algona, 25 miles south of Seattle , WA .
1991 Michael Shire B.S., ELECTRICAL & COMPUTER ENGINEERING Shire is a research scientist at VoiceSignal Technologies, a Boston-area company developing speech recognition and speech-to-text solutions for mobile devices.
1992 David Fogel M.S./PH.D., ENGINEERING SCIENCES Fogel and his wife Jacquelyn welcomed their twin boy and girl on November 9th. Jonathan is big brother to Skylar.
1996 Marie Jue B.S., ENGINEERING SYSTEMS SCIENCE M.S., COMPUTER SCIENCE Jue joined PayPal in 2003 as the QA manager for PayPal's international sites. She recently moved into a new role as QA manager of automation where she is driving PayPal's overall test automation strategy.
1997 Darryl Hild B.S., ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING After working for Cadence for nearly seven years, Hild co-founded a semiconductor test engineering services company called TestEdge (www.testedge inc.com) in 2002. TestEdge is based in San Diego and focuses on delivering experienced IC test engineering services for digital, analog, mixed-signal, and RF devices.
1998 David B. Taquino PE, B.S., STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING Taquino started a structural design firm with a partner, and has been very busy ever since. He and his wife, Kristen, have two great boys, Ryan (4) and Colin (2).
1999 Daren Deffenbaugh B.S./M.S., BIOENGINEERING Deffenbaugh is a senior project engineer for DePuy, Orthopaedics in Indiana . He was recently issued his first patent (US6969407) for a modular radial component for total wrist arthroplasty.
1999 Mariusz Olszewski B.S., BIOENGINEERING Dr. Olszewski recently finished a surgical internship at Naval Hospital , San Diego , and is currently serving with the Marines at Camp Pendleton . She got married in February 2006.
2001 Wei-chih Chen B.S./M.S., STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING Chen is a licensed civil engineer in California and currently manages many different types of projects including both retail and residential. He was the project engineer for the recently completed Simi Valley Town Center Mall at Simi Valley .
2001 Jenny Gu B.S., CHEMICAL ENGINEERING Gu recently moved to the Los Angeles area where she is a systems project engineer for Honeywell.
2001 Michael C. Houston B.S., COMPUTER SCIENCE After graduating from UCSD, Houston got his M.S. in computer science from Stanford University . He is currently in the Ph.D. program under Pat Hanrahan and expects to graduate in 2007.
2001 Tina Wang B.S., COMPUTER SCIENCE Wang went on to earn her M.S. in computer engineering and is currently a second-year student in De Anza College, focusing on intellectual property.
2002 A.J. Hubne B.S., MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Hubner works for Raytheon in San Diego . He enjoys the sunshine and skiing as often as possible.
2002 Ryan M. Smith B.S., MECHANICAL ENGINEERING Smith has been working for HP for four years, and currently designs ME parts for all-in-one ink jet printing devices. He lives in Carlsbad and married in September 2005.
2002 Aaron Wang B.S., BIOENGINEERING Wang is now in his fourth year of the M.D./Ph.D. program at Stanford University, where he is working on his Ph.D. thesis focused on using 3D ultrasound to detect and locate vascular bleeds/trauma, and improving the visualization of 3D ultrasound.
2003 Shawn Kiggins B.S./M.S., STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING Kiggins is currently working as an engineer/architect for a small studio building custom houses in Santa Monica , CA .
2004 Ezequiel Montanez B.S., STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING Montanez recently began work as a junior structural engineer with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. He will be working with the Pipeline & Facilities group assisting with substructure reviews. He and his wife are expecting their second child in July.
2004 Ryan Sit M.S., COMPUTER SCIENCE Sit has launched his own company, Drop Shots (http:// www.dropshots.com), an online subscription-based service for family and friends to share and comment on personal digital media such as photos and videos.
2005 David Breslauer B.S., BIOENGINEERING Breslauer is pursuing a Ph.D. in bioengineering in the UCSF/UC Berkeley joint graduate group in bioengineering, where he is developing microfluidic devices for quantitative cell and systems biology experimentation.
