Cymer Conference Center General Information
The three-story integrated Cymer Conference Center is a new meeting space designed for a wide variety of uses at the Structural and Materials Engineering Building.
The main conference room, located on the second floor, is approximately 1,600 square feet and can hold up to 110 guests in a classroom style layout. There are also six breakout rooms on the third and fourth floors, along with an outdoor terrace for receptions, dinners and lunches.
The expansive space is ideal for international conferences, campus special events, public lectures, and faculty and student meetings.
Cymer, a leading developer of light sources used by chipmakers worldwide, made a generous donation to build the Conference Center to cultivate a hub for industry collaboration and innovation. Receiving their PhD degrees from UC San Diego, Cymer's founders Dr. Bob Akins and Dr. Richard Sandstrom are longtime supporters of the university and both earned the outstanding alumnus awards. Dr. Akins is also a member of the Council of Advisors to the Dean of the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering.
While today's students are behind the scenes, they will soon emerge as the next pioneers, pushing boundaries and breaking new ground. We hope the new Cymer Conference Center helps to foster the success of this next generation of leaders and its supporting engineering community!
