Capsule Bio:

Yu Qiao received a bachelor's degree in applied mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1994, and a master's degree in materials science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997. He received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from MIT in 2002 and immediately joined the faculty of the University of Akron until he joined UCSD in 2006.
