Ndapandula Nakashole

Asst Professor, Computer Science and Engineering

Natural language processing, machine learning and data mining

Collectively, natural language processing aims to develop algorithms that enable computers to understand and generate human language. Nakashole’s focus is on developing machine learning methods that learn language from large collections of data. Specific problems she is interested in include: knowledge acquisition, entity recognition and linking, question answering, and more recently, machine translation for low resource languages.

Capsule Bio:

Before joining UC San Diego, Nakashole was a postdoctoral fellow in the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University. She earned her Ph.D. from Saarland University in Germany for research done at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics.
