San Diego, Calif., Nov. 28, 2011 -- The Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego currently is recruiting for 10 open faculty positions in the 2011-12 academic year. The positions fall within three strategic research focus areas identified by the school: energy, sustainability and environment; engineering in medicine; and information technology and applications. An additional position focuses on the applicants’ contributions to diversity, in addition to research and scholarship.

The 10 positions also fit within UC San Diego’s new campuswide strategic research focus areas: systems biology; design; and advanced energy technology. They are part of a three-year recruitment plan that includes a total of 24 positions at the Jacobs School.
The new openings are spread across all six Jacobs School departments: two positions for Electrical and Computer Engineering; one position each for Bioengineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Nanoengineering and Structural Engineering. Three positions are schoolwide recruitments.
