The UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering includes approximately 250 world-class faculty teaching in six academic departments. Throughout our B.S., Master's, and Ph.D. programs, the Jacobs School education model focuses on deep and broad engineering fundamentals, enhanced by real-world design and research, often in partnership with industry.

In 2015, Dean Albert P. Pisano announced the Experience Engineering Initiative, which aims to give each Jacobs School undergraduate a hands-on or experiential engineering course or lab each and every year — starting freshman year.
Through the IDEA Engineering Student Center and programs like the Team Internship Program, and Global Teams in Engineering Service, we encourage students to develop their communications and leadership skills while working in the kind of multi-disciplinary team environment experienced by real-world engineers.
