Impact through relevance
The Jacobs School of Engineering is home to many research centers and institutes focused on tough technology challenges that no lab, discipline or industry can solve alone.
These centers and institutes bring UC San Diego researchers from different disciplines together to collaborate with one another, and with industry, government and academic partners. This model encourages strategic partnerships – the kinds of collaborations that are critical for preparing future generations of engineers while also moving research innovations from research labs to the real world.
The Jacobs School has launched 14 of these research centers and institutes since 2014. They complement a robust set of research centers launched prior to 2014.
