Become a Board Member

Dear Friend,

As Chairman of the Board for Englekirk Structural Engineering Center, I extend a rare opportunity to you and your organization to be part of a one-of-a-kind initiative that will ultimately impact human welfare on many levels.

The first shear wall test sponsored by our board led to the acceptance and promotion of a scientific performance-based design procedure:

  • The Los Angeles Tall Building Structural Design Council (LATBSDC) has developed a specific performance based objective which is consistent with provisions contained in national codes.
  • The City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety encourages building developers to use the LATBSDC approach.
  • The use of this design procedure produces a better building from the standpoint of significantly lessening structural and non-structural damage, at a lesser construction cost.

Funds are needed on an annual basis for full implementation of the best possible research and educational programs. In recognition of your financial support of $25,000, you would be invited to become a member of the Advisory Board.

For more information, please contact Katrice Lee, Associate Director of Development, (858)822-5593 or k7lee@ucsd.edu.

Thank you for your consideration for what must be viewed as a giant step towards solving issues critical to our industry and society. All of us at the Jacobs School look forward to working with you on this exciting development.

Thanks,
