Become a Board Member
Dear Friend,
As Chairman of the Board for Englekirk Structural Engineering Center, I extend a rare opportunity to you and your organization to be part of a one-of-a-kind initiative that will ultimately impact human welfare on many levels.
The first shear wall test sponsored by our board led to the acceptance and promotion of a scientific performance-based design procedure:
- The Los Angeles Tall Building Structural Design Council (LATBSDC) has developed a specific performance based objective which is consistent with provisions contained in national codes.
- The City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety encourages building developers to use the LATBSDC approach.
- The use of this design procedure produces a better building from the standpoint of significantly lessening structural and non-structural damage, at a lesser construction cost.
Funds are needed on an annual basis for full implementation of the best possible research and educational programs. In recognition of your financial support of $25,000, you would be invited to become a member of the Advisory Board.
For more information, please contact Katrice Lee, Associate Director of Development, (858)822-5593 or k7lee@ucsd.edu.
Thank you for your consideration for what must be viewed as a giant step towards solving issues critical to our industry and society. All of us at the Jacobs School look forward to working with you on this exciting development.
Thanks,
Robert E. Englekirk
