Jacobs School Rankings

The UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering ranks 10th in the nation and 14th in the world, according to the 2015 Academic Rankings of World Universities in Engineering / Technology and Computer Sciences conducted by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy.

The Jacobs School of Engineering ranks 17th among the nation's top 215 engineering schools, and 10th in the nation among public universities according to the U.S. News ranking of graduate schools. (U.S. News, published March 2016)

The Jacobs School of Engineering ranks 7th in the nation and 23rd in the world according to a US News best global universities ranking, published October 2015. The same ranking placed Computer Science #7 in the nation and #9 in the world.

UC San Diego Rankings

UC San Diego ranks fifth among the top U.S. universities in federal research and development dollars, with $1,074,000,000 in expenditures for fiscal year 2012.

UC San Diego is ranked as the nation’s third best public university, 15th best university in the U.S., and 20th best university in the world by CWUR (Center for the World University Rankings) for 2014. According to CWUR, in the category of “influence,” which measures the number of research papers appearing in highly-influential journals, UC San Diego is ranked the 5th best university in the world in 2014.

Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine ranks the University of California, San Diego the 14th best value public university in the nation in 2014 based on its high four-year graduation rate, low average student debt at graduation, the availability of financial aid, low sticker price and overall great value.

UC San Diego has again been ranked among the nation's top best value colleges and universities for 2014 by The Princeton Review.

Jacobs School of Engineering Departmental Rankings

The Department of Bioengineering ranks 4th in the nation for biomedical/bioengineering (U.S. News, published March 2016). Bioengineering has ranked among the top four programs in the nation every year for more than a decade.

The interdisciplinary Bioinformatics program, ranked 13th in the nation, is offered jointly by eight UC San Diego departments including the Jacobs School's Bioengineering, and Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) departments. (U.S. News, published March 2010)
