Parent Giving Provides New Funding for Mechanical and Aerospace Undergraduate Students

As their son enters his senior year, a proud Triton parent couple felt inspired to make a gift in honor of their experience as part of the UC San Diego family. As their son earns his degree in mechanical engineering from the Jacobs School of Engineering, the family has contributed $100,000 to establish the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Student Excellence and Innovation fund.

The family’s philanthropy will support undergraduate student opportunities, including but not limited to student participation in conferences and competitions, experiential learning projects, and activities to support the outreach, recruitment, retention and advancement of students. This is a valuable gift for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) and helps fuel our undergraduate students’ success through experiential learning, training, and research in STEM.

Philanthropy helps the Jacobs School fulfill our mission of educating, encouraging and nurturing the next generation of researchers, scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs. There are many ways to support the Jacobs School of Engineering and our six academic departments. We are grateful to this Triton family for expanding the depth and breadth of what is possible for our MAE undergraduate students.
