People have made many elaborate projects using the tools provided at Envision. Here are a few examples of what can be accomplished at EnVision Maker Space!
Betsy Bee- Vittoria Amalia Tenino's Custom 3D Printer!
What inspired you to start this project?
It originally started as a bet between myself and one of my coworkers. The bet was, who could build the better printer using old 3d printer parts. I thought I could build a better printer than Ming with less money. From there, it ballooned into what it is now, and I needed a printer to print large objects for my art projects. I don’t think he ever finished his printer.
What are some things you’ve printed with your 3D Printer?
I printed a lot of test benchies to try and tune it while building it. But one of the first prints I did was a reed, which controls which threads go up and down in a weaving loom. It was quite a large print and I was glad to have Betsy Bee!
What are some things you wish you did differently on the project?
If I did it again, I would just buy a Bambu Lab. Jokes aside, I would have spent a little more money to save myself a lot more time. For example, I used linear rails for the z axis so I wouldn’t have had to make as many modifications to the Voron CAD. Instead I used linear rods since I could get them for free from the old scrap printers. It was an interesting design challenge.
