About Us

Established in 2009 with the generous support of the Bernard and Sophia Gordon Foundation, the Gordon Engineering Leadership Center exists to educate and equip future engineering leaders to positively impact society. Although the Gordons have supported a number of leadership centers in the nation, the Gordon Center at UC San Diego is the only one of its kind on the West Coast. Gordon Center provides hands-on leadership and team building skills, mentoring, individual and team coaching, community outreach, and connections with industry partners.

At the heart of the Gordon Center is the Gordon Scholar Program. This program is a comprehensive, clearly defined pathway for students to develop into engineering leaders. Gordon Scholars are selected students who demonstrate exceptional engineering leadership attitudes, capabilities, and knowledge. The Scholars attend a rigorous 20-week development program to increase the success rate in college and post-college careers.
