Mentor an Apprentice in your Research Lab
GEAR Up2Research (GEAR) is a entry pathway into research for students who have not had the opportunities to get involved within the Jacobs School of Engineering. GEAR makes research accessible for all. Through GEAR, students will receive foundational support in understanding what research is, what it is like to work in a lab, and how to find faculty mentors and lab opportunities.
Two ways faculty can team up with the IDEA Center to support GEAR students include:
- Open lab meetings for shadowing for GEAR students.
- Attend Community Hours where students can connect with you and hear about your lab.
- Bring in a GEAR student as an apprentice to work within your lab!
