How to Become a Diversity Org Supported by the IDEA Engineering Student Center

The IDEA Engineering Student Center is committed to supporting engineering organizations which emphasize community and retention of underrepresented students in engineering. The University of California defines diversity in this way. As an engineering diversity org supported by the IDEA Center, orgs will receive:

Advising
Large-scale event marketing
Purchasing, reimbursements and travel
Leadership development

To receive support from the IDEA Center, engineering diversity orgs must:

Have a mission which contributes to the success and community of an underrepresented student group in engineering, with majority of membership being within this underrepresented group.
Demonstrate sustainability by being a CSI registered organization for two consecutive years with active membership (15-20).
Actively participate in TESC.
Participate in the IDEA Center's Leadership Retreat for Orgs, as well as other org events.
Have a National Association affiliated to the student organization.

Diversity organizations are encouraged to apply to receive advising support with the IDEA Engineering Student Center every 3 years. Application process for the next cycle will be made available in Spring 2025.
