Students Get an Intro to AI in First AI Major Class at UC San Diego

More than 100 undergraduate students enrolled in UC San Diego’s new AI major took their first major-specific course, CSE 25: Intro to AI, over winter quarter. The class aims to introduce AI principles that the students will see repeatedly over the next four years, and level the playing field between students who may have taken AI coursework on their own, and students for whom this is all new material. Transforming Computer Science Education in the Age of AI

Educators, education researchers and computer scientists are teaming up as part of a consortium led by the University of California San Diego to reshape the future of computer science education in the era of generative AI. The consortium, supported by $1.8 million from Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, brings together experts from education and nonprofit organizations, as well as industry and academia, comprising thousands of educators in dozens of countries around the world, who in turn will impact tens of thousands of students.
