ENG 10: Fundamentals of Engineering Applications

Course Description

The objective of ENG 10 (Fundamentals of Engineering Applications) is to increase motivation and student success in engineering through an application-orientated, hands-on introduction to engineering mathematics and design processes. Lectures will cover key mathematical concepts as they apply to engineering, including solving systems of equations and least-squares regression. All math concepts will be presented within the context of an engineering application, and reinforced through extensive examples of their use in core engineering courses; thus, developing an engineering mindset. In-class activities using Python and Arduino will complement the lectures and provide students hands-on experience with solving real-world engineering problems related to design, manufacturing and prototyping, electronics, and data analysis.
