Our summer programs offer opportunities for incoming freshman and transfer engineering students to help adjust to life at a four-year university. Students will learn about campus resources, receive help and advice with their transition into university, and build relationships with fellow incoming students to help establish a peer network before they arrive on campus at UC San Diego in the fall.
Summer Engineering Institute
The Summer Engineering Institute introduces incoming freshman to the rigors of a university-level engineering curriculum, and helps build their awareness of relevant campus programs and resources. Students will take part in organized social activities on evenings and weekends, and begin forming a peer network and make lasting friendships.
Transfer Prep
The Transfer Prep Program provides incoming transfer student with the opportunity to become acclimated to campus life, build skills and habits necessary for success in engineering, and develop community amongst their peers before beginning their courses in the fall over the course of a 5-day program.
