Research Expo is an Incredible Intellectual Experience

San Diego, CA, January 30, 2012 -- “I’m astonished every year at how advanced the research is. Research Expo is an incredible intellectual experience,” said UC San Diego alumnus William Proffer ('76, '78 M.S Applied Mechanics).

Proffer, a long-time Research Expo judge, is Assistant Vice President for Technology and Chief Systems Engineer for Science Applications International (SAIC) in La Jolla, Calif.

Research Expo is Thursday April 12, 2012

Register to attend Research Expo on Thursday April 12, 2012 at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering. Get a broad, early look at leading-edge engineering research. Meet tomorrow's technology leaders.

* More than 230 M.S. and Ph.D. students will display their research results at the poster session (1:30 p.m – 4:30 p.m.).

* Faculty from each of the Jacobs School’s six departments will give talks (2:30 p.m – 4:30 p.m.).

* At the networking reception (4:30 p.m – 6:00 p.m.), get to know graduate students and faculty and see who won the best poster awards. Expand your network. Begin a research collaboration. Identify possible future employees.

“For practicing scientists and engineers, Research Expo offers a refreshing view of what is current,” Proffer said.

Research Expo also offers a valuable opportunity for companies and organizations looking for the best engineering students.

“At Research Expo you can meet the graduate students in person, get to know them, and understand what they are doing,” Proffer explained.
