New Online Masters Degrees for Fall 2012 at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering

San Diego, CA, April 2, 2012 -- The Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego is offering two new online master’s degree programs starting in Fall 2012: Structural Health Monitoring and Simulation-Based Engineering.

The online format for these unique master’s programs in emerging fields is designed for working professionals. For more information, please contact the Jacobs School at: JacobsMAS@ucsd.edu or 858-361-8160.

Structural Health Monitoring

Structural Health Monitoring combines graduate courses from the Departments of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Jacobs School of Engineering.

The Structural Health Monitoring program will provide working engineers with systems-level expertise in the field of designing and executing damage detection, monitoring and prediction strategies for structural systems.

In this program you will gain the tools required for implementing condition-based structural health monitoring systems, including structural dynamic behavior modeling, sensing and signal processing, data mining, and statistical analysis.

Simulation-Based Engineering

Simulation-Based Engineering integrates graduate courses from the Departments of Structural Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering departments. In this program you will learn how to solve multi-physics engineering problems using the techniques of modern computational analysis.

The Master of Advanced Study (MAS) Structural Health Monitoring and MAS Simulation-Based Engineering join three other MAS programs at the Jacobs School of Engineering: Wireless Embedded Systems, Medical Device Engineering, and Architecture-based Enterprise System Engineering.
