Four undergraduate programs ranked in nation’s Top 10
11 undergrad programs rank Top 10 among public schools

September 23, 2025-- Four undergraduate programs at the University of California San Diego’s Jacobs School of Engineering have been ranked in the nation’s Top 10 in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges ranking released September 23, 2025.
- Biocomputing, bioinformatics and biotechnology program ranked second in the nation, and first among public schools. This multidisciplinary undergraduate offering is supported by three UC San Diego divisions, including the Jacobs School of Engineering.
- Our undergraduate biomedical engineering program was ranked #7 in the nation, and #3 among public schools.
- Cybersecurity at the Jacobs School of Engineering ranked #7, and #4 among public schools.
- Computer systems ranked #9 and #6 among public schools
The Jacobs School of Engineering’s undergraduate program as a whole was ranked the #10 public school in the nation and #17 overall.
For the third year running, UC San Diego has been named the country’s sixth best public university by U.S. News & World Report in its annual Best Colleges rankings. UC San Diego also held steady at No. 29 among more than 400 national universities overall.

In addition, UC San Diego ranked #8 in the nation and #5 among public schools for our data analytics and data science undergraduate program, administered by the Halicioglu Data Science Institute which is part of SCIDS.
