A Wearable Sensors Research Center in Beijing Is Named After UC San Diego NanoEngineering Professor Joseph Wang

San Diego, Calif., April 20, 2017 - A wearable sensors research center at Beijing University of Science and Technology has been named in honor of UC San Diego NanoEngineering professor and chair Joseph Wang, who also serves as Director of the UC San Diego Center for Wearable Sensors.
The new center is part of Beijing University of Science and Technology’s new Institute for Precision Medical and Health Research.
According to the press release, there are many major key scientific and technological issues in the field of precision medicine. Collaborative research is required in order to tackle these issues.
The new institute has six research centers, each named in honor of an internationally renowned scholar:
● Felid Medical Research Center: Ferid Murad, Nobel Prize Winner (Physiology or Medicine), 1998
● Robert Drug Research Center: Robert Langer, Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
● Joseph's Wearable Sensor Research Center: Joseph Wang, Professor, University of California San Diego
● Dimitry Precision Treatment Research Center: Dmitri Alden, Cancer Specialist
● Beijing Precision Diagnostic Medicine Research Center: Director of Bioengineering and Sensing Technology Center, Beijing University of Science and Technology
● Beijing Institute of Drug and Health Research Center, School of Chemistry and Bioengineering, Beijing University of Science and Technology

Beijing University of Science and Technology aims to collaborate with world experts in cancer treatment, drug research and development, nitric oxide information transmission systems, nanorobots, electrochemical biosensors and other areas.
“The naming of the center gives UC San Diego international recognition in the field of wearable sensors,” said Wang. “It is a great honor to be named with internationally renowned experts in drug discovery and medicine.”
Wang has published more than 1000 research papers, owns 35 patents, and has been involved in the preparation of more than 40 books. He is a member of the American Academy of Medical and Biological Engineering and the British Royal Chemical Society.
