About

These pages are designed to organize some of the materials related to the nanosponge research being done by UC San Diego nanoengineering professor Liangfang Zhang and his team in the Nanomaterials and Nanomedicine Laboratory (Zhang Research Group) at the Jacobs School of Engineering.

Liangfang Zhang is a professor in the NanoEngineering Department at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering.

Liangfang Zhang is also a Co-Director of the Center for Nano-ImmunoEngineering at the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering.

Liangfang Zhang is founder of Cellics Therapeutics. This San Diego based startup is working to translate several of Zhang’s nanosponge projects into clinical applications. The work on red blood cell nanosponges for bacterial pneumonia is close to reaching clinical trials in humans.
