Human-machine interactions and Secure IoT among faculty talk topics at Research Expo 2017
Research Expo is April 20, 2017 |
San Diego, Calif., Feb. 8, 2017 – UC San Diego professors from a wide range of industry-focused research centers will discuss advances in contextual robotics, human-machine interaction, secure IoT, and combined engineering and policy initiatives to fully decarbonize the global economy at Research Expo on April 20, 2017. This is in addition to the networking reception and the more than 215 engineering and computer science graduate students who will highlight cutting-edge research from across the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering at the Research Expo poster session.
Attendees often use Research Expo as an informal recruiting event. It’s a great way to access hundreds of graduate students in engineering and computer science all in once afternoon. At the same time, Research Expo provides a unique venue for getting an insider’s look at a wide range of cutting-edge research projects being taken on by some of the top labs in the world.
A Recruiting Success Story
“I got a job through Research Expo,” said Rahul Kapadia, who earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Jacobs School in ’14. “Cymer was looking for someone with a thermo-engineering background. Their representative looked at abstracts in the program book before coming to the poster session and circled mine.”
After a 30 minute chat about his poster and research, the Cymer representative asked Kapadia if he was looking for a job.
“He told me about the opening, gave me his business card and told me to send email and we’d go from there,” said Kapadia. “After a few emails back and forth, I was called in for interview.”
Kapadia received an offer and now leads a team of engineers at Cymer.
