Yu Qiao

Professor, Structural Engineering


Thermodynamics, advanced energy-related materials, high-performance infrastructure materials, in-situ resource utilization, smart materials and structures, failure analysis for engineering materials and structures.

Capsule Bio:

Yu Qiao received a bachelor's degree in applied mechanics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1994, and a master's degree in materials science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997. He received a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from MIT in 2002. From 2002-2006, he was an assistant professor at the University of Akron. He joined UCSD in 2006.
