Xuanting Hao

Assistant Professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Fluid motions at the atmosphere-ocean interface

Hao seeks to understand the small-scale fluid motions at the atmosphere-ocean interface. He builds physics-based and data-driven models of air-sea processes, such as wind turbulence, surface gravity waves and sunlight propagation – and their interactions. Applications include weather forecasting, renewable energy harvesting and marine infrastructure protection.

Capsule Bio:

Before joining UC San Diego in 2022, Hao was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Minnesota. He also earned his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.
