Albert P. Pisano

Dean and Special Adviser to the Chancellor

Albert P. Pisano is responsible for strategic planning and programmatic development for the Jacobs School. His responsibilities include School-wide research initiatives, space plans, academic affairs, strategic planning and operations, and UC San Diego-wide cooperative initiatives.

 

Andrea Tao

Associate Dean for Students

Andrea Tao's responsibilities include management of student programs; curriculum organization and content; and management of the instructional infrastructure.

 

Karen L. Christman

Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Welfare

Karen Christman's responsibilities include operation and processing of tenure and promotion cases; management of faculty recruitment and retention; and faculty diversity, equity and inclusion.

 

Javier Garay

Associate Dean for Research

Javier Garay's responsibilities include oversight of large initiatives with national and international reach including the Dean’s Agile Centers; leadership on special projects; and collaboration with the Dean in the development of strategic plans to expand the scope, scale and impact of the School’s research.

 

Gilberto Mosqueda

Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Gilberto Mosqueda's responsibilities include: ensuring that equity and inclusion are considered in all aspects of faculty affairs, including recruitment, retention, and advancement; and working with the Jacobs School community to cultivate welcoming, diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning, researching and working environments. 

 

Tana Troke Campana

Senior Assistant Dean and Chief of Staff

Tana Troke Campana is responsible for the central budgeting, financial, human resources, facilities, technical operations and general administration of the Dean's Office.

 

Bill Lin

Associate Dean for Strategic Programs

Bill Lin's responsibilities include helping to devise and facilitate major new strategic programs that will broaden and strengthen our research enterprise and drive increased cachet for our entire Jacobs School.

 

 

The UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering's six academic departments oversee the engineering education program and provide an administrative home to our faculty.

Our affiliated research institutes bring faculty, students and industry together to develop significant advances in focused areas of study. Our institutes place a high priority on collaboration, technology transfer, and educational opportunities that prepare our graduates to meet industrial human resources needs.

The Council of Advisors to the Dean of the Jacobs School is comprised of industry leaders who provide: advice and council to help the Jacobs School best serve the San Diego region, the State of California, and the nation; contacts with business, government, and community to advance the mission of the School; help in identifying and acquiring resources in support of the School's goals and programs.
