Follow your Enrollment Checklist found within your Admissions Applicant Portal.

Make sure you are checking your UC San Diego email. Here, you will get information from your departments and colleges such as upcoming dates and enrollment information sessions. Make sure to attend your orientations, whether offered virtual or in-person.

New Triton Advising will open for you in mid-June. You can log into vac.ucsd.edu to complete New Triton Advising. After completing this, you will be able to go in and select "Ask a Question" to reach out to your advisors.

Not really. Each student is admitted into a College, as well as a School. You will live within your College and complete General Education requirements provided by your College. Your School houses your major department and major course requirements.

So, for example, you might be a student admitted into Sixth College as a Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Major...and the CSE department  is housed within the Jacobs School of Engineering. You are both a Sixth College student and a Jacobs School of Engineering student!

Here is information on how to change your major.

However, know that a majority of majors within the Jacobs School are "Selective" or "Screened." Learn more about selective and screened majors here.

In addition, see below for a Triton Days handout for major changes within the Jacobs School of Engineering:

This might require you to talk to an advisor before mid-June! In which case, contact your Colleges and Departments to see what your options are.

There are also great summer transition programs you can look into, which not only give you a head start on your degree, but also provide a great support network before your first Fall. Learn more below:

Summer Engineering Institute (SEI) is a five-week summer program run by the IDEA Engineering Student Center in which you:

  • Take 6-8 units of coursework
  • Live on campus
  • Experience UC San Diego classrooms and culture
  • Connect to resources
  • Meet your best friends

What's also great about SEI? The support doesn't end over summer. By participating in SEI, you become a part of the IDEA Scholars Program, where you will join a cohorted community and continue to receive specialized services and programs to enhance your academic and professional success.

Your Fall enrollment will not happen until August. Keep your eyes on your email for more information from your departments and colleges to prepare you. The UC San Diego Registrar team is working hard to transfer your credits over. Until then:

  • Review your academic history.
  • Check assist.org for transferrable college credit from a California Community College
  • Review AP/IB credit charts

Sure! Math is an integral part of your engineering curriculum, so it's important that you are making progress in your math pathway.

To ensure you start off strong, pay close attention to the requirements and deadlines on your Enrollment Checklist. Make sure you have your math placement in by June 1.

Know that if you intend to graduate in four years and you are starting in a math placement below Math 20A, it might impact your time to degree.

You can learn more about math pathways and preparation here: http://mathways.ucsd.edu/
