The goal of this project is to integrate Bentley’ cloud-based EADOC Project Management Software with Bentley’s Navigator Building Information Model (BIM) Viewing Desktop Application.  By adding the ability to view 3d models in browser, and link EADOC objects and BIM objects, this team could help define the future of project management.

It would create a web based solution for viewing of 3d BIM objects. It would allow for any information added to a model object to be tracked as an “EADOC object”, thus linked to existing EADOC workflows. There is an opportunity for a team of 2 students to work on developing tools and techniques to optimally render 3D data generated by the TetraVue Camera in real-time on PCs as well as mobile platforms. The work includes:

1. Developing 3D data meshing and texturing techniques. 2. Utilizing the portable Point Cloud Library for developing the 3D visualization and manipulation tool. 3. The developed software tool shall work on a Windows, Linux and Mac OS X systems. 4. Developing and implementing data protocols that allow for efficient data transfer from the processing unit to the Android based mobile platforms. 5. Rendering the 3D data stream on the handheld device 6. Implement a top-level user interface on the Android device to interface with control the TetraVue camera. This project is more suitable for graduate level students or engineering students in their final year of study, however anyone with the necessary core skills can apply.

There is an opportunity for a team of up to 2 students to work on developing ImageJ based as well as standalone tools for processing 3D data generated by the TetraVue camera. The work includes:

1. Writing tools to import/export TetraVue 3D data into ImageJ.

2. Enhancing existing image processing routines to process high-res TetraVue data.

3. Developing and implementing new noise filtering algorithms that deal with image data.

A stretch goal is to provide information about package junction box locations relative to end devices (i.e. transmitter, speed element, etc.) and methodology to apply information to improve manufacturability of the design.
